Our Trivia feature is a great way to either give people a reason to engage with your business and subscribe to receive your text message alerts or keep your existing subscribers interested. They are great for live events as well, where your audience can participate in real time.
To create a Trivia Promotion, select New Promotion under the Promotions link in the main navigation area at the top of the page. From there, find Trivia and click the “Create” button.
In order to create your Trivia, you need to complete the following steps:
- Enter a name for your campaign. This is just for you and won’t be seen by participants.
- Select a keyword to enable customers to participate in your Trivia Campaign. This is key call-to-action people will see in order to participate, so make it something short, relevant and easy to remember.
- Select the Trivia Type. Random selection simply selects someone at random based on the pool of people who answered correctly. First to answer selects the first person to answer your question(s) correctly. Choosing the manual selection option gives you the flexibility to choose winners yourself.
- Specify if this will be a single question trivia. In most cases, you won’t want to choose this option. It simply allows people to bypass the initial keyword you create (“AWESOME” in the example below) and text the answer option (“BULLS” if they want to choose the answer “Chicago Bulls”) in order to enter. This option only really applies to cases where your trivia is used at a live event.
- Select a Start Date and Time for your campaign.
- Select an End Date and Time for your campaign.
Once the initial set-up is complete, you’ll need to enter your questions and answer options, including the keyword(s) you’d like people to text in to choose an answer. Again, make sure your keywords are short and easy to remember, even if your answer option is long. For example, if you have an answer option for “Chicago Bulls” your keyword should be something like BULLS. Make sure you indicate which answer is correct.
You can specify a clue, which allows people to request a clue before answering.
Finally, you’ll need to specify behavior around selecting and notifying winners.
- Specify the total number of winners you’d like to have
- Specify the time at which you would like to announce the winners
- Specify the message sent to people who provided answers
- Specify a message that will go to the winners only
- Specify the message that will be sent to people who sent an incorrect answer
- Specify a message to send when someone has already answered but tries to answer a second time
Now your Trivia is all set. You can edit the length of your Trivia, add new questions or change copy of your text messages if you so choose. You can also click the “Grow Your Subscriber Base” link to ask people who participate in your trivia to subscribe to receive your text message alerts. Just specify the List you’d like them to be subscribed to and they’ll receive a message after providing their answer asking them to reply “Y” to join.
